Google removes Plankton, New Malware Masquerading as an Angry Birds Addon
The Google malware war continues with the third dangerous threat, called Plankton. The new malware is able to log on remotely to the server with command-and-control (C&C) for instructions and upload some malware to infect unsuspecting phone. Unlike what happened with DroidKungFu and its predecessors, no vulnerability exploits for Plankton to take control of your smartphone, but rather search for the files from the server hack to find and break a bug still not fixed in OS. The malware is also able to download data from your phone such as bookmarks, history, and home page of the browser.
The malware widespread through popularity of angry birds. Already ten alleged addon for the most popular game in history. None of the addon does as promised, but simply infected the smartphone. From March the Android Market was bombarded with hundreds of supposed dangers, but Google has already put to shelters by eliminating threats.
